Designing a marble run which represents two opposing adjectives. The conglomerate should be quadratic, mounted to a wall and exhibited at the Campus.Design.Open exhibition.
To test the run I did build a cardboard prototype.
Thereby, I could adapt the marble run to the speed of
the marble and playfully fix bugs.
After a lot of testing, I got the right dimensions and
proportions. Next, I built a final, working model out of
fibreboards.
„un/expected“ takes up the archetypical marble run
and represents the two opposites expected and unexpected.
The diagonal tracks create symmetry. Behind the
covered right side the marble takes an unsuspected
way and therefore surprises the user. In this way, the
graphic symmetry is broken and an interesting effect
is created.
